The Grill (2019)

Updated: Jun 6, 2020

Streaming platform Viu has come up with a new digital series titled The Grill, spanning 10 episodes aimed at the millennial crowd. Promising to make the time of the binge-watching crowd feel worthy, the makers of the series are confident of their content. The series follows the life of Arjun, an engineering college fresher and four first-year engineering students, caught in a bitter rivalry between the juniors and seniors that divides their world. While Arjun gets into many mad capers with his roomies, the series touches upon several relevant themes like bro-code, breaking free, the first taste of freedom, turning passion into a career, loving what you do, start-up culture, and embracing life in college. Directed by Sharan Koppishetty, who’d helmed Kirrak Party earlier, the series features Santosh Sobhan, Viva Harsha, and Maira Doshi in pivotal roles. Replete with a right dose of fun, drama, comedy, romance, and fights, Viu India’s country head Vishal Maheshwari had exuded confidence in a recent interview. “We are pleased that youngsters Santosh, Viva, and Maira have delivered superb debut performances. With its simulcast launch in all our 17 markets globally, it ensures great reach for the content and their talent,” he said. Next in the lineup of Viu is the Telugu remake of the famous Israeli show ‘The Baker and The Beauty’. The series will be helmed in association with Annapurna Productions.
